Aged HET3 mice are more susceptible to M. tuberculosis than young. M. tuberculosis infected old (N = 40) and young (N = 18), female HET3 mice were euthanized when morbidity developed. Survival (A), weights over time in old (B) and young (C) mice, peak body weight (D), weight at euthanasia (E), and proportional weight loss (F) are shown. Survival data were analyzed by Log rank test, ****p < 0.0001. Pairwise data were analyzed by Student’s t- tests, *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01. Data were censored for 11 old mice due to non-TB morbidity. No data from young mice were censored.
