Panel (A): The various graphs depict specific cytokines produced by PBMC of infant (n = 16), adolescent (n = 7) and young adult SPF-2 macaques (n = 8) after 24 hours of stimulation with anti-CD3 and anti-CD28 antibodies. Data are expressed in pg per milliliter (pg/mL) of culture supernatant. Panel (B) shows age-related changes in the ratios of IFN-:IL-4 and IFN-γ:IL-10. Cytokine levels between the three distinct age groups were compared by one-way ANOVA and statistically significant differences are indicated by p values. Each symbol represents an individual animal; horizontal lines indicate the median of the age-group.
