From: Hyper‐metabolic B cells in the spleens of old mice make antibodies with autoimmune specificities

Total B cells and ABCs from old mice are characterized by higher glucose uptake as compared to those from young mice. B cells, isolated by magnetic sorting from the spleens of young and old mice, were left unstimulated. Glucose uptake was measured by flow cytometry and the glucose fluorescent analog 2-NBDG. Results show MFI (mean fluorescence intensity) from one representative experiment. MFI±SE from 4 independent experiments in which 4 mice were evaluated are shown below the histogram (left). The mRNA expression of the glucose transporter Glut1 was measured by qPCR (center). Mean comparisons between groups were performed by unpaired Student’s t test (two-tailed). Glut1 expression in unstimulated FO and ABCs sorted from the spleens of young and old mice (right).
