Weight loss is associated with decreased expression of markers of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype, SASP, in unstimulated B cells. B cells were isolated from PBMCs using CD19 microbeads and positive selection. B cells, left unstimulated, were resuspended in TRIzol, then the RNA was extracted and the expression of SASP markers detected by qPCR to evaluate expression of RNA for pro-inflammatory cytokines, pro-inflammatory miRs, TLRs and cell cycle regulators p16INK4, p21CIP1/WAF1.
