B cells from obese adults and lean elderly individuals, but not from lean adults, support T cell inflammation and this effect is reduced by weight loss. PBMCs were stimulated for 48 h with plate-bound anti-CD3 in the presence or absence of B cells, which were removed by magnetic sorting using CD19 microbeads (< 0.1% B cells in PBMC after selection). IL-17A (top) and IFN-γ (bottom) were measured in culture supernatants by ELISA.
